Tips for Choosing Wedding Decorations

The first thing that guests notice when they attend a wedding ceremony or reception are the decorations. Therefore, every bride and groom wants to have the decorations very attractive, memorable and to have these represent the interests or the couple.

Usually, the task of choosing the wedding decorations is delegated to the bride and the female members of the family and entourage. However, it is still preferred that the groom should also help in conceptualizing the decorations to be used for the wedding.

Here are some aspects to consider when deciding on what decorations to be used in the wedding:

* Mood

Will the wedding be formal or casual? Do you want it to be traditional or contemporary? This will help in deciding what candles, flowers, balloons, and other venue enhancements will you be needing.

* Color Scheme

Consider the main color to be used for the decorations. This may be the couple’s favorite color, a color that can be associated with their hobby or the color that is preferred during the season. Make sure that the color of the decorations will go well with what the members of the entourage and the guests will be wearing.

* Site

Take pictures of the wedding site as early as possible so that you can check the pictures while considering a decorating idea.

* Time

Usually, decorations can only be set at the church and at the reception within one to two hours before the event. Therefore, you must consider decorations that don’t take much time to mount. Also, these decorations should also be taken down right after the event.

* Guests

Consider how many will attend the wedding reception and how big is the site. With the number of guests that you will be having, can you still set-up bigger decorations that will take some floor space?

If you have a large number of guests, you may just want to set-up floor decorations near the stage and dance floor where most of the program will take place. Also, you might want to opt for smaller but finely detailed table decorations.

Also consider if there will be kids who will be attending the wedding reception. Kids may get bored during the program and start playing with the decorations that can cause an unsightly mess. So you may just get decorations that are not so fragile.

Another tip, if you will be having several kids as guests, you may have a kids area, where they can mingle with other kids and where the decorations and food are more suited for their age.

* Budget

Improperly chosen decorating ideas will not look well even if these cost much. Also, choosing just two or three decorating ideas, as long as these are implemented well can make a ceremony and reception look lavish.

Also, it is not necessary to buy every item that will be used as decorations. Some professional decorators can give you information on vases, mirrors, table centerpieces, dried flower arrangements, arc ways, pedestals and plants that will only be used for one day.

With these, just adding a few candles, laces and fresh flowers will make your wedding site and reception exquisite.

A final budgeting advice, check with the wedding rite venue director if there are other weddings that will take place during the day. If so, you may want to coordinate with the couple that will be using the venue before or after you. The may agree with your decorating ideas or add some of their own, and agree to just split the decorating expenses with you.

Tips For Choosing Good Wedding Planning Software

When you first dig into the details of planning your wedding, you quickly find things can quickly become disorganized and quite overwhelming. There’s a lot to keep track of when planning a wedding, but one great way to help make sure nothing is forgotten is to choose some good wedding planning software, then using that wedding planning software to make sure the best day of your life goes off without a hitch!

Now wedding planning software is not just for brides. In fact, it might be a better idea to have someone else in charge of keeping track of all the details. The bride is nervous, excited and stressed out enough about this big day in her life, so wedding planning software can be purchased for use by a professional wedding planner, a great friend, family member, or someone else who’s placed in charge of keeping track of the wedding planning details.

Before buying wedding planning software, you’ll want to look around at various offers. Be sure to compare not just prices, but see what kinds of features are offered in the wedding planning software packages you’re thinking about buying too. You can get started by searching for wedding planning software with any search engine online, and maybe look for wedding planning software reviews too. This way you’ll be able to see how others like the specific wedding planning software packages you’re thinking about buying.

Now, what features and capabilities should your wedding planning software have?

1. Expense tracking. Good wedding planning software should offer some kind of way to track expenses and help keep you within budget. Some weddings can run as high as ,000 or more before everything is said and done, but by tracking all of the related expenses in your wedding planning software, you’ll be able to make sure you can meet or beat the budget you’ve allowed for various wedding expenses.

2. Guest Tracking. Your wedding planning software should be able to track however many guests you intend to have at your wedding. Good wedding planning software won’t limit you to just 100 guest entries either, it should be able to handle the really big weddings too.

Other key points about guest tracking that your wedding planning software should be able to handle include all the little things like: Are they coming from out of town? Do they need help finding accomodations? What gifts did they give you and have you sent a thank you card yet? Did they attend various events such as the bridal shower or rehersal?

3. Reception Seating. Great wedding planning software will even allow you to help figure out the seating arrangements for your wedding reception! Seating can be extremely important and complicated at any wedding, and the larger it is the harder things seem to be. Having wedding planning software which helps you manage this though, will help prevent any major disasters on that special day. You wouldn’t want to sit Aunt Edna and Uncle Joe together – or even at the same table – if they recently went through a nasty divorce right? So look for wedding planning software which has features that can help you make sure no mistakes of this sort will happen.

4. Reception Details. Great wedding planning software should also allow you to manage all the misc details about the reception too: What foods will be served, what catering company will be used, where will the reception be located, what entertainment will there be, etc. These are all important wedding details that must be arranged and kept track of, so any good wedding planning software should offer a way to do so.

There are many other features you’ll find in great wedding planning software. These could include: Music management, vow and ceremonial details management, and having misc checklists and todo lists readily available. So when you’re looking around for great wedding planning software, keep in mind all the minute details that will need to be tracked, and be sure the wedding planning software you choose offers those for you.

Learn About Choosing A Wedding Reception Venue

Your ideal location for your wedding reception should continue with the theme and style that you have chosen for your wedding. If you are lucky, and can have the reception at the same place where you get married, you will have a head start on creating a day where one part of the day flows seamlessly into the next. If you are getting married at a church, however, this may not be an option. For those of you who have family and friends living all over the nation, you might find that it makes more sense for everyone to have your wedding reception at an easily accessible location which is well connected by highways, railroads, and airports. You will know if this idea fits your particular situation once you are aware who will come to your wedding, so that you will be capable of choosing most appropriately where to host your wedding reception. In this way, you will be able to make certain that all of your guests are able to reach your wedding without too much trouble and cost. Should you end up choosing a local place for the reception, think about the guests whom you plan to invite, and how they will be able to get there and even at what place they will be able to stay. It could be appropriate to offer transportation, travel, directions, and area hotels on your wedding invitations. No one should plan a stunning wedding reception in a castle, on a cliff, or a sandy beach if they dwell in the city and are working on a smaller budget. You have to settle on a wedding reception place for which you are able to afford the cost; be real. You have to come to grips with making wedding dreams which work together with your budget, with what you realistically can afford to spend. In such a way, you will avoid a great number of arguments while putting the wedding itself together, as well as a great mountain of debts once you have been married! This is not to say that you are not able to have a dream wedding. Wonderful locations for wedding receptions are available to fit every particular taste, as well as every budget. If only one of the parties is making the decision, finding a location for the reception is a little easier. However, if both parties participate in the decision making during the wedding planning phase, finding a venue becomes a little tougher. If joint decisions are being made but the parties do not agree on budget, colors, style, theme, etc., compromise is your best ally. Each party should make a list that includes what features a venue must have for the ideal wedding reception. Another list should be made by each party listing what features they do not want in a potential venue. Numbering the list in order of importance will help the parties see what is important to the other party, which makes a compromise easier to achieve. Remember that some wedding venues are often reserved as much as a year in advance so start looking early for the best possibilities. Ideally you should begin your search for your reception location when you start looking for a place to have the wedding ceremony. Some locations will allow you to make a temporary booking on their facility as long as you give them a final yes or no answer within 48 hours. That will give you time to look around a little more while it prevents you from the disappointment of having a venue fall through!

Choosing The Perfect Wedding Theme

Okay. You’ve got the ring, you’ve got time to plan, and you’ve got…no clue where to start. Your mother-in-law is telling you to have a Hollywood themed wedding, and your best friend is telling you to theme it for the beach. All that is well and good, but neither of those ideas is of interest to you. You want a theme that matches your personality, not theirs.

Where do you begin? Well, you could spend a lot of your budget on hiring a wedding planner, who’ll spend all your money for you. Or, you can hit the books and have a look at what’s out there! If you want something more original, and not mainstream, try eliminating what is mainstream. Ask the married women you know what their wedding themes were. Not only can you find out what someone else has done, but you can use it as a way to brainstorm for your wedding. If you really like Shelly’s theme of Water, but also like Anne’s theme of gardens, try combining them! What do you get if you mix Water and Gardening? Tropics, Ponds, Gardens, Ocean, Parks! They are both unique and easy.

If that idea doesn’t appeal to you, just look around you. What kind of decor does your home have? Is it more traditional, or is it more modern? Do you decorate with tiles, or paint? What colors do you like? If your home is more modern, think about what reminds you of “modern”. To me, when I think of modern, I think about what’s in style – Retro! If your home is more traditional, do the same. What reminds me of traditional is the old life. Farms, small towns, rural living, old sporting – Rodeo!

If you’re still reading this, then you probably still need ideas. If your friends didn’t help, and if looking around you didn’t help, maybe mainstream is a good idea. There’s plenty in that idea bank! You can always add your own spin to it. What are mainstream favourites? Seasons. Things like a Spring theme, or a Fall theme. My sister’s wedding was an Ocean themed wedding; and since then, it’s become quite a popular choice. I’ve also heard of many Sunset themed weddings. How do you put your own spin on these popular favourites? Instead of having a spring theme, why not pick a certain flower that you love? Or, instead of Ocean theme, pick a certain beach you like, and hold the wedding there!

Still no ideas? Well, if all else fails, there’s always wedding magazines. Wedding magazines always have fresh, new, and unique ideas. They’re all over the big book stores, and sometimes you can find them in second-hand stores. Who wants to pay full price for a magazine when you can get another one for 1/2 the price? Keep those in mind when you’re doing decor shopping for your wedding as well. Second hand stores can have just what you’re looking for, and are usually a lot less then the brand new stuff.

If you’re fresh out of ideas still, try thinking of colors, and what they remind you of. Red reminds me of cinnamon, of spices, and things like that. Herbs! Orange reminds me of fire. Campfires, bonfires, hula dancing. Hawaii! Green reminds me of mint. Mint is in breath mints, in sweets, and cooking – candy! Think of any color you like, and think of what it reminds you of. You can try this with smells, too! Bread reminds me of bakeries, flowers remind me of gardens. Sooner or later you’re bound to stumble across something you like.

If you want to be more outlandish than all that, why not have a theme based on another country’s traditions? Have a Chinese themed wedding, or a Dutch wedding. Maybe Italian or African. Many of earth’s cultures have unique styles of wedding, and would be fun to plan out. If you cant pick one country or culture, you could always pick your favourite bits from many cultures, and have a mosaic wedding.

If that isn’t enough for you, there are always modern subcultures. There are Goths, hip-hops, rap lovers, sport heads, TV heads, gamers, school kids, and many more. You could have a Gothic wedding or a wedding themed with your favourite video game, or your favourite genre of music. Its a broad world out there, fit with many subcultures just waiting to be picked!

How about copying the set or scene of your favourite TV show or movie? Lord of the Rings has the Shire, Soaps have the almost too-perfect city scene, and 24 has the big city panic. Any of your favourite things to watch have a certain scene, feeling, or set. If you like it, copy it! You’ll be flowing with ideas!

Maybe this is all a little too much for you, and you’d like something a little more basic. Well, how more basic can you get than industrials? Iron, steel, glass, stone, gold, diamond. Those things are easy to find and easy to base a theme around. It gives a strong look, and can be fun to plan with. There’s brushed metal, stained glass, candles, wood, brass, and tons of other things in this category. Go wild!

If even that is too much for you, then there are every day common items that could prove to be a lot of fun. A rainbow, clouds, leaves, chairs, numbers, phones…There’s a whole list of basic, everyday things that could very well be your theme. Just because you see them every day doesn’t mean you can’t make them a unique and successful theme idea!

Well I hope I’ve helped you pick out your theme, and I wish you a happy, successful wedding and marriage! Remember, planning can be fun, but planning with a few extra hands willing to help you makes it a lot more fun, and a lot faster!
