How Wedding Themes Dictate Wedding Location Ideas

Sometimes coming up with a wedding location idea can be tough. After all there are thousands of wedding locations not just in the US, but also around the world that might be the ideal wedding location. One way to help narrow down wedding locations ideas is by choosing a wedding theme. The following are just a few themes to be considered and possible locations that might suit them.

•    Seasonal wedding themes. These are wedding themes that celebrate various seasons. Say you want to have your wedding in December, but you want a summer wedding theme, then heading to Arizona, Mexico or a tropical island might be in order. Along the same lines, a winter wedding can be had any time in Alaska or Iceland. Themes can be carried out through dress, decorative embellishments and more.
•    Ethnic Weddings. Many couples like to celebrate their heritage through their wedding. From Scottish weddings with kilts and bagpipes, to Indian weddings with elaborate displays of food and ornamentation an ethnically themed wedding can take place in the country of origin, or it can also take place in an architecturally themed venue. An Italian wedding, for example could take place in a Tuscan Villa in Arizona, or a Scottish wedding could take place in a castle in California.
•    Disney Themed Weddings. Many girls dreamed of being a princess and having their love ride up on a white horse and carry them away. This can happen. Horse-drawn carriages create a romantic setting as the couple rides off into the sunset. Any favorite character can be incorporated into a theme. Guests can be asked to participate by dressing as their favorite Disney character, or as a character from a favored movie.
•    Celebrating an Era. Some people loved the seventies, others related to the sweeping ball gowns of the ‘Gone With the Wind’ era. No matter the decade or year in celebration, wedding locations can be transformed to another time, another place. Guests can also participate. It’s great to see how elaborate guests can be with their costumes.
•    Under the Stars. The outdoors can be used as a theme and carried inside by use of intricate lighting. A light show can also help the effect of being outdoors while inside.
•    Color themes are very common and can touch upon anything from flowers, to dresses, to candles, to lighting preferences.
•    Environmental Weddings. Environmental weddings are now a popular option for many brides. Sending e-vites instead of paper invitations, serving organic foods and buying dresses made from organic materials all help lessen the impact of a wedding on the earth.

No matter your choice of wedding theme, your decision will mostly likely affect your wedding location ideas. Have fun with your wedding. Choose a backdrop or architectural venue that reflects your taste and style and serves as a theme in and of itself. Think about the things that are important to the bride and groom and bring those loves and passions into the wedding.

3 Money Saving Wedding Themes

One fun aspect of planning your wedding is choosing a theme upon which the wedding attire, décor, invitations, and foods are based. Your wedding theme reflects your interests and sets a mood and tone for the ceremony and accompanying reception. If you need to stretch your wedding budget, you can easily do it with your choice of wedding theme.

Wedding themes can be as simple as choosing a color for the bridesmaid’s dresses. Then you can use that color throughout the ceremony in the décor of the church and the color of the flowers. Infusing your color into your wedding favors, table settings, and centerpieces at the reception completes your nuptials in your own special cost-saving design.

Or wedding themes can be more complex, reflecting concepts like a garden, the Asian culture, or the beach. Selecting a conceptual theme allows your creativity to shine through. Clothing, flowers, church décor, the reception hall, and even food selection can create a lovely, personalized wedding.

Consider these ideas for budget-friendly wedding themes:

1.      Color theme. Choosing a color-themed wedding can make it easier for you to spend less money on your wedding. For this example, let’s say you’ve chosen red and white as your wedding color theme. Because the colors of red and white “pop” when used together, you won’t have to spend much extra money to add more flair to the event.

·         The bride wears either a white or red dress purchased at a bridal sale. The groom wears a rented black suit, white shirt, red tie and vest.

·         Select simple arrangements of inexpensive white flowers. White delphiniums, statice, larkspur, spider mums, carnations, and gardenias are low-cost, lovely white flower varieties.

·         On the day of the wedding, the bride’s helpers wrap the bouquets in flowing red ribbons. Do the same for flower centerpieces on reception dining tables.

·         Large white bowls filled with red apples or strawberries are budget-friendly table centerpieces and keep within the red and white theme.

·         Choose table settings of red tablecloths, white plates, and red napkins at the reception.

2.       Garden theme. The garden theme focuses on all things related to nature that might be found in a garden.

·         Several artificial green potted trees provide a lovely garden setting as a low-cost alternative to real greenery.

·         Line the church altar with smaller silk potted plants to reflect a garden look.
·         Use inexpensive, fresh flower arrangements as centerpieces on the reception tables.

·         Small garden statues and bird figurines arranged near the centerpieces provide a nice touch, as do birdhouses. Shop for the statues, bird figurines, and birdhouses in a discount craft or garden store.

·         A perfect setting for a garden-themed wedding is, of course, outdoors where green grass, trees, and beautiful plantings surround the entire wedding party and guests. Many outdoor venues cost thousands of dollars less than renting an indoor location.

3.       Beach theme. An oceanside or beach theme allows everyone to get in on the act, even your guests.

·         The beach theme reduces wedding costs because the theme is less formal. Therefore, wedding attire for the bride and groom is less expensive. The bride wears a simple white dress. The groom dons light blue trousers and shirt to reflect the ocean’s colors.

·         Wedding invitations inform guests to wear colors that reflect the hues of the sea and sand.

·         Use clear glass containers brimming with seashells as décor and table centerpieces. Add white or sand-colored candles, if you like.

Exploring themes, décor, and wedding attire in advance will help you decide what you can afford. If you’re willing to do some of the work yourself and ask friends and relatives for help, you can celebrate your themed wedding without breaking the bank.

Your Guide to Spring Wedding Themes and Ideas

Spring is that time of the year where everything feels refreshed and renewed. This is when life begins for most of flora and fauna, and this is when flowers bloom. As you begin your new life as well and let your love bloom at its peak, spring can be the perfect time for a wedding. With so many flower choices in season, and not having to worry about cold or snowstorms, the next step is for you to get a wedding theme. Here are some spring wedding theme suggestions and other ideas you can incorporate in your spring wedding.

Garden wedding – Because of the beautiful colors of spring and the fresh blooms in gardens, garden weddings or an outdoor wedding would be your top choice for a spring wedding. You don’t have to worry about snow ruining your special day and a garden wedding can save you a lot of money for decorations. Because the garden is already prepared, you just need a few decorations in some select spots and your venue is ready for your guests.

Color-inspired wedding theme – It is best to stick to pastel colors and you can choose one specific color and make it the theme for the wedding. From the invitation down to the wedding favors, you can have a yellow spring wedding theme and have everything in different shades of yellow. Nothing looks better than having you and your bridesmaids in their bright yellow dress in a green garden on the background and with the sun shining down on everyone – this can be the best photo that you can have.

Invitation designs – There are different invitation designs but for spring weddings, it is best if you use pastel shades for the invitation paper and have floral prints on the background or as a silhouette, or emboss spring scenery on one side of the invitation panel.

Menu – Your menu should also reflect the flavors of spring. Fresh vegetables such as baby asparagus and baby carrots, as well as fresh fruits can truly complete a refreshing meal for you and your guests. The menu can contain any type of food, but some tropical or outdoor themed food ideas will give it a springtime feel. Ice cream is another great idea for when the weather is warm.

Wedding favors – Small decorative pot plants, seed packets, and small pail with small packs of candies are all good ideas for spring weddings. Place wedding favors labels, hang tags or other favor labels printed with your wedding details and they are ready to be given to your guests. You can also choose to have the hang tags in the shape of a leaf or butterfly.

Now get your wedding checklist and organize everything based on the theme of your choice. Complement your wedding reception with fun and soothing music that will fall softly on the ears of your guests. You can create that dream spring wedding with décor, invitations, and favors that will truly reflect the freshness and the different blooms of spring.

Four Winter Wedding Themes

During the cold days of winter, many beautiful wedding themes are all around us. If you are planning to get married during the winter time, there are a number of different options available to you. Choosing the right winter wedding theme is actually quite easy once you think about what you want your wedding to be like. Winter offers a host of wedding ideas, and this article will give you several of them to make a wonderful winter wedding a reality.

The Snowflake Theme – This is a wonderful theme of winter, and your wedding could be an outstanding example of white. Snow, and white in general, is a natural wedding theme by itself. It is quite easy to find excellent wedding decorations and themed flower arrangements around this great winter theme. Imagine an ocean of white, with snowflakes floating down from above. As a wedding theme, this opens up the floodgates of creativity, and can be taken in a number of directions with your wedding foods and wedding cakes.

The Christmas Wedding – Christmas is a very popular time to celebrate weddings and with good reason. The ready-made holiday decorations at your disposal are huge, and the various sub-themes are varied. Also, you can sometimes save time with your wedding decorations, as churches and assembly halls will often already be decorated for the holidays. If you want to create a wonderful Christmas wedding, you will need to make sure to get all of the Christmas decorations from unique sources. Traditional Christmas decorations do work, but unique is where the true Christmas themed wedding works the best. Find some awesome Christmas Wedding Theme Decorations here.

Silver and Gold Themed Wedding – This is my personal favorite wedding favor and it is due to the incredible amount of sparkle that it produces. If you like a winter themed wedding that will sparkle, then this is the theme for you. Gold trim on silver creates a gorgeous backdrop for any wedding arrangements. This particular theme does not have to be a Christmas theme either. It can just be set up as a simple color scheme instead. That flexibility is very convenient.

Green and Red Winter Wedding Theme – This is very much like the Christmas theme mentioned above, except that it focuses on the colors rather than the season. Many people like the idea of the colors but not of the theme of Christmas as a whole. This theme works wonders with color, and can truly be spectacular for your wedding theme. Basing a wedding around specific colors can lead to a very clean and structured wedding preparation. This is an excellent choice for those that love the Christmas spirit but not particularly all the bells and so forth.

Regardless of the wedding theme that you choose for your winter wedding, it is sure to be a challenge to find the proper things to build it. If you need a one stop shop to get all of your wedding favors, party favors, wedding decorations, and so forth, I have found a wonderful resource to use.

Why Do People Have Wedding Themes? Are They Necessary?

Theme weddings can run from simple and color-infused to completely silly and character-based like the one above.  If you’ve heard about the more fantastical theme weddings, you may wonder why anyone throws a theme wedding at all.  Wedding themes can add elements of fun, continuity, and elegance to any wedding, and theme weddings can be as simple to design as choosing your favorite color.

Remember the black tie wedding you saw on TV?  The one where everyone wore ball gowns and tuxedoes?  A formal black tie wedding is a kind of theme.  So are the weddings you’ve been to where everything from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the invitations were peach and pink.  Choosing a theme, whether it is simple or outlandish, ties the elements of the wedding together.  It makes choosing everything from bridal favors to the wedding dress a little easier because you are essentially choosing from a template you’ve already set.

Choosing to use a wedding theme can also help set your wedding apart and make it a unique experience.  Many of your guests will go to several weddings this season.  You may not want your wedding to be just another Pachabel’s Canon, steak dinner, Macarena, rice-throwing kind of wedding.  Maybe you want something that will stand out from the rest, both in your memory and the memories of your guests.  Choosing a stand-out wedding theme can help your wedding be quite unique.

You don’t have to go crazy to put on a theme wedding.  You can choose a butterfly theme and embroider butterflies on the dress, emboss the wedding invitation with them, and release live butterflies after the vows have been exchanged.  You can have a rose themed wedding and fill the reception hall to overflowing with roses of every color, cover the cake in sugar-crystal roses, and give away rose seeds or potpourri sachets to your guests as favors.

Some people have been dreaming of what they want in a wedding since they were very small, and a wedding can be a chance to live out your most vivid childhood dreams.  A person might want to make her wedding as magical as the ones she saw in Disney movies growing up.  She might choose to become Cinderella for a day and walk down the aisle to her Prince Charming.  Some couples have grown close through their love of a comic book, movie, sports event, or music group.  They might make their wedding an homage to that bond by creating a Superman, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Yankees, or White Snake -themed wedding.

It is not written in the hallowed book of wedding rules that one must have a wedding theme for their wedding to be proper and successful.  Your wedding, essentially, has the theme of the bridal couple.  You are going to design a wedding around yourselves as individuals and as a couple.  Choose things that make you smile and that you enjoy.  Your wedding will be memorable for the love you share, the words you say, and all the little things that go wrong and right on your special day.

Top 7 Fun Wedding Themes that can Spice up the Occasion

A wedding is considered a traditional occasion since it involves a solemn ceremony as gathered guests witness the exchange of vows between two people. Nowadays, there are couples that may choose a specific wedding theme while planning for the celebration.

If you are one of the many people who are looking for a different and enjoyable wedding, why not try and pick a fun wedding theme for you and your guests. Just ensure that your guests will have easy access to the requirements of your themed wedding such as attire and gifts.

Here are 7 fun wedding theme ideas that you may like for your own wedding:

1. Viva Las Vegas Wedding Theme

If you and your loved one had been to Las Vegas and enjoyed the fun and excitement of playing craps, slot machines and poker, you can also have a wedding based on your Vegas experience. It doesn’t have to be an all-out Vegas style from top to toe. You can ask your planner to scout for roulette and craps tables and poker dealers, as well as a celebrity impersonator to entertain your guests at the reception. You can also give away personalized deck of cards, crystal dice or sets of poker chips as wedding favors.

2.  Country Style Wedding Theme

If you’ve heard of a shotgun wedding, why not put it into good use in your own wedding. A country western theme is a good choice if you and your loved one are from the west. But hey, you can enjoy a country western theme even if you’re from the metro. A wild wild west theme complete with horses, barbecue cookout and a country band can surely make your wedding enjoyable.

Finding attire for you and your guests shouldn’t be too difficult as well. But if attire is a bit over the top, you can stick with the basic outfits and concentrate on the other areas such as the reception, wedding favors and decorations. A country style wedding theme is also best celebrated outdoors because of the barbecue cookout, country band stand and dancing.

3.  Hawaiian Wedding Theme

If you want more fun for your guests, why not throw a Hawaiian luau for a reception. Attire shouldn’t be a problem because you can ask them to wear something comfy and something that screams Hawaii. White or beige dress and shirt and trousers for you and your loved one are perfect to complement the theme. You should also go for colourful flowers such as orchids, mums and daisies for the bouquet and decorations for the reception.

You may serve roast pig, tropical fruits, seafood, pina coladas and other Hawaiian treats. This wedding theme is best held outdoors if you cannot have it on the beach.

4. Sporty Wedding Theme

If you wish to have a sporty wedding theme, make sure that both you and your loved one enjoy sports. Choose once sport or team for your wedding theme particularly for the decorations and favors. You can go all the way or partially if you love a specific sport (i.e. baseball, basketball, tennis, etc.), but you also need to inform your guests about it especially if you prefer them to wear sporty attire.

5. Chocolate Wedding Theme

Now, don’t think only of confections because chocolate is synonymous to sugar, candy, pastries and desserts. When you think about chocolate, think of the entirety of your wedding- from color motif, wedding cake flavor and desserts that will be served, and others. You can have a chocolate brown motif for your bridesmaids’ and flower girls’ dresses. Your table setting can be a combination of chocolate brown accents on white or beige table cloths.

A chocolate fountain is also a good attraction and it may also add fun not just for the kids but also for the adults. And how about adding an extraordinary dish for your guests that truly say chocolate? Mexico’s famous mole poblano is a dish that has chocolate as one of its main ingredients. You can have your caterer prepare it for you or you can order from a Mexican restaurant that serves it.

And of course for favors, you should give away chocolates- a variety of bonbons, truffles or custom-made just for your wedding.

6.  Wine and Spirits Wedding Theme

This is an elegant way of celebrating your wedding but you can always put fun in it by combining food and desserts with wines. A variety of cheeses for appetizers or for wine tasting can be fun and educational for everyone. You can hire a professional sommelier to help put together the best wines for you and your guests. If you have a couple of favorite wines, serve them together with the meal and desserts.

Wine and champagne color motifs can also be incorporated so long as they meet your preference.

7. Tropical Paradise Wedding Theme

Some couples may want to have a tropical paradise theme for their wedding probably because of a previous trip or a personal experience that inspires them. The colors and flavors of the tropics can bring in fun and enjoyment for everyone.

Colorful tropical flora and fruits are the best representations for this wedding theme. Serve your guests with colourful and fragrant fruits as accompaniment for dessert, and let their eyes feast on a mixture of colors as your motif. Yellows, reds, oranges, pinks and greens are the best colors for this theme. You can also have the occasion outdoors with matching plants, flowers, trees and parrots as part of the decor.

When it comes to wedding theme ideas, the possibilities are endless. Your imagination and creativity can play a big role when planning for one. And of course it doesn’t always have to be expensive.

Wedding Themes And Styles – 10 Wedding Themes And Ideas

One of the many issues of contention when planning your wedding is what wedding theme and style you want. It doesn’t have to be difficult if you just get some wedding styles and ideas to get you inspired.

Firstly, wedding themes and styles don’t have to involve you dressing like Snow White, especially if your fiancé is a little vertically challenged, he won’t see the funny side of being the dwarf that won the day. Below are some wedding themes and ideas to hopefully give you inspiration. Some you will hate but some may just spark things off and get you started.

Space and Science Fiction: If you are into space or the future or even have a favourite Science Fiction series, you can use this to a greater or lesser degree as a theme or style. Star Trek and Star Wars weddings are quite popular these days.

Seaside and Beach: You can focus on sand, seashells, tropical islands or you can go nautical with a ship theme or surfer dude, especially if you are having a wedding in some tropical paradise which is very popular these days.

Animals and Nature: If animals or nature in general are your bag, then you could build a wedding theme around your favourite animals or creatures. Although I wouldn’t choose a Black Widow Spider theme as this might make the groom a little more nervous than he already is.

Culture or Ethnicity: Many people base their wedding theme around their culture or heritage. If you have two different cultures you can mix the two into a quite unique wedding style and if your heritage or traditions are the same then that makes it even easier to work out. This can be quite beautiful as it means a lot to all family members.

Flowers and Favourite Colours: As floral arrangements are an integral part of a wedding it seems natural enough to make the style of the wedding around your favourite colours and flowers.

Historical Themes: If you have a favourite historical era, you can base your wedding around a specific time in history. Such as Egyptian, Roman or one of the many romantic eras in history but don’t choose the Black Death it doesn’t really work for weddings. Unless you’re both Goths I guess.

Fairy Tale or Disney: These are popular themes as in modern times it is quite acceptable for adults to enjoy these fun themes as much as our children do. You might have a dream based on a fairy tale that you might want to act out. Nothing to risqué though, don’t forget your parents will be there.

Sport or Sports Teams: If you are the sporty types and would like to incorporate your favourite team or sport into your wedding theme, this is quite acceptable. You can even get married at football grounds these days. But you both need to feel the same about it or it doesn’t work.

Western Theme: If you are fans of country and western music, why not have a western style wedding theme. The clothes are fun and there is plenty of scope for the reception. There are even places like ‘Little Hollywood’ in Spain where you can have the reception or wedding. Where they filmed ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ it’s a very authentic replica of a western town.

Seasonal Theme: You can build your wedding theme around the season in which it takes place. A winter wedding theme for instance with all whites and silvers or autumn with all the many colours of autumn.

Well, I hope this has given you some inspiration and helped you to realise that wedding themes and ideas aren’t so daunting after all. All you need is a bit of imagination and a theme that means something to you both. If all else fails Google ‘wedding themes’. Good luck and enjoy.
